Governance in Focus: Talisay City and DILG Strengthen Roadmap for People-Centered Public Service

July 3, 2025

In pursuit of strengthened local governance and more responsive service delivery, the Talisay City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Atty. Weng Lizares, in collaboration with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), conducted an Executive Briefing on the State of Local Governance on July 3, at Nature’s Village Resort, Barangay Zone 15.

The session, facilitated by OIC-CLGOO and Cluster Head Maria Nove Mejica, brought together key city officials for a comprehensive review of Talisay’s performance in core governance areas—ranging from administrative capacity and social protection to disaster resilience, economic development, and environmental sustainability.

This joint initiative served not only as a benchmarking exercise but as a strategic alignment platform—allowing department heads and city leaders to identify opportunities, bridge performance gaps, and set clear priorities for the remainder of the governance cycle.

Mayor Weng Lizares reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and inclusive growth, emphasizing that effective governance must always center on the needs and aspirations of the people.

This marks a vital step in ensuring that Team Talisay’s public service roadmap remains responsive, data-driven, and anchored in the principles of good governance.
