The City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office (CCLDO) of Talisay City successfully conducted the Pre-Membership Education Seminar (PMES) on July 28, 2025. This important initiative aimed to educate and empower local associations exploring the formation of cooperatives within the City.

Held at Minuluan Hall, Talisay Public Plaza, the seminar gathered participants from various associations preparing to organize into cooperatives, along with facilitators and accredited trainers from the CCLDO.

As mandated by Article 10 of Republic Act 9520 (Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008), the PMES is a required step for those seeking cooperative membership. The training covered core topics such as cooperative principles, objectives, governance, and member responsibilities to help participants make informed decisions about forming or joining a cooperative.

This initiative highlights the City Government’s firm commitment to inclusive economic development through cooperative enterprises. It also aligns with Talisay City’s vision of fostering sustainable, member-owned cooperatives that drive economic progress and enhance community well-being.
