Waste No Time, Road to RA 9003 Glory: Talisay City Showcases Ecological Solid Waste Initiatives for 2026 Provincial Evaluation

Mayor Atty. Weng Lizares officially welcomed the Provincial Solid Waste Management Evaluation Team, led by Focal Person Shiela Joan Bautista, to Talisay City for the 2026 Provincial Search for the Best LGU Compliant with Republic Act 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000).
During the assessment, the City Government showcased its unwavering dedication to environmental stewardship and proactive waste management. Spearheaded by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) under the leadership of Engr. Warren Paduano, and backed by the administration of Mayor Weng Lizares, Talisay continues to build on years of solid progress in ecological governance.
Evaluation Highlights & Field Inspections
The evaluation featured a comprehensive presentation by Talisay City Focal Person Norina Gumban on local waste management policies, followed by on-site field validations of key infrastructure and community models:
- The New Talisay City Public Market and Terminal Complex
- The Talisay City Sanitary Landfill (SLF)
- Barangay Zone 12-A, recognized for its exemplary household waste segregation and barangay-level compliance.
In close partnership with barangay officials, local agencies, and community stakeholders, Talisay remains steadfast in promoting proper waste segregation, materials recovery, and recycling programs. These initiatives directly support the "E" in the ASENSO pillars of good governance—Environmental Protection—and advance the broader Gwapa nga Panghimanwa vision.
Every properly segregated piece of waste, every clean neighborhood, and every environmentally conscious citizen brings Talisay City one step closer to a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future for all Talisaynons.
